Healthy, organic produce

Healthy, organic produce

If we actually lived in a perfect world where we were all healthy people, then I’m pretty sure that we’d all be shopping for food at our local farmer’s markets, having our local farmers over to dinner every week, buying organic meat, and running about in our local forests looking for fresh honey and mushrooms. I’m sure you’re getting a good idea of the sort of life we would all be living!

But the truth is that in the modern day world that we live in right now, this sort of life just isn’t that realistic for people to live out every single day. And heck, would anyone really want to?

With all the modern day comforts such as being able to go to our local convenience stores to get whatever we want within minutes… few people out there are going to be willing to give this sort of thing up regardless of how healthy the alternative way of living may be.

But the reality is that most of us still want to be healthy human beings. We all want to buy really healthy and organic foods but at the same time we want to make sure that we are spending our hard earned money in the right places.

So to help you out on your journey to becoming healthier people, I’ve taken the time to put together a list of foods I believe you need to be buying organically from now on. The good news is that you will be able to find all of these foods down at your local supermarket.

So to start you off, I’d recommend that every single person out there go organic with…

1. Full Fat Dairy

It’s obvious that a massive number of the population across the globe consume some form of dairy on a regular basis. Seriously, whether it be butter, yogurt, milk or cream you can be sure that someone is enjoying it!

If you’re one of the people that enjoys consuming dairy then your best bet would be to go for those products that have been produced by cows that are 100% grass fed. But of course, this is a little harder to find so if you’re not able to get your hands on it then I’d recommend you get organic dairy from now on.

The most important reason you should be investing your hard earned money into getting organic dairy products is because it’s protected by government regulations to meet certain standards.

The most important standard that all organic dairy must meet is that the farmers must allow their cows to consume fresh grass for the entire 120 days of the grazing season. On top of this the farmers must also ensure that the cows are getting at least 30% of their total calories from this fresh grass.

So next time you buy organic dairy products, you can feel happy knowing that you’re getting something that came from a cow that actually consumed some fresh grass.

The second reason you’re going to want to get organic dairy from now on is for the simple fact that cows that produce standard dairy are given feed which is covered with pesticides. These then get passed onto the dairy that the cows produce, which really is not that good for your long term health!

2. Eggs

The rules regarding eggs are extremely simple, so please don’t get worried next time you visit your local store. The best eggs that you can get your hands on are those that have been produced by pastured chickens, the second best are ones that are from organic chickens. These are the only two varieties you should ever consider. Stay away from the standard variety at all costs.

The reason you’ll want to stay away from the standard variety is simply because the chickens that produce them are given food that is literally covered with pesticides and a lot of these get passed onto the yolks of the eggs that they lay.

This is exactly why I recommend you get eggs that have been made by pastured chickens. As these chickens are largely left to roam the natural environment where they eat things like worms, grasses and other scraps.

3. Leafy Green Vegetables

All leafy vegetables such as kale and collards have one thing in common aside from being ridiculously good for you, and that is that they all have extremely large surface areas.

What this means is that when the farmers spray pesticides all over them, you can be pretty sure that the entire vegetable is getting covered with the stuff…. and trust me this is practically impossible to remove.

Vegetables such as carrots and potatoes are easy to clean without causing damage to them. You can scrub them and scrub them under the tap and you won’t even put a slight dent into them but do the same to something like kale and you’ll end up destroying it!

Another reason you’ll want to go organic when it comes to vegetables is simply because you eat so many of them. Just imagine the negative impact on your health over the long term if you eat non organic vegetables that are covered with pesticides!

4. Berries

The fact is that blueberries and pretty much every other berry out there is the one type of fruit that is covered with the most pesticides in comparison to all other fruits and vegetables.

But the interesting point is that, if you let the berries look after themselves and don’t spray them with pesticides then they actually produce a whole lot more of their own chemical protectants which are known as polyphenols! Of course, you do get the benefits of these protectants when you consume organic berries. Research has shown that organic berries have a higher percentage of antioxidants, phenolics and malic acid in comparison to the standard berries that are out there.

I really hope that you got some value out of this article, but I want you to understand that this list I’ve shared is by no means the final list of organic foods you must start eating. Instead you should look at it as a starting point on your journey to getting healthier.

Just move forward one food at a time until you’re eating all your foods organically. Do this and believe me pretty soon you’ll be in the best shape and health of your life!
